WSOP CALENDAR FOR 2007-2008
Most likely, dates of scheduled activities will remain the same, but events may change based on need, majority member request, and/or board decision. Addresses for the venues are at bottom of this page.

October 6, 07 This meeting will be held at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church. We will combine our regular monthly meeting with the enrichment workshop organized by members of St. David of Wales Church on Celtic Spirituality. Plan to spend the afternoon. We will need volunteers for booth setting up, sitting in, and just generally good schmoozing. This could be the start of something very exciting for all the Portland Celtic communities. Perhaps after, some members would like to have an informal dinner somewhere.

October 14, 07 There is a Gymanfa Ganu in Seattle at2:00 PM at St. Andrew's Church at 111 NE 80th. Te Bach to follow. Contact local WSOP members for carpooling information.

November 3, 07 This meeting will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church and we hope to have Dick Pugh available in town to talk to us about the Missouri Floods, which I don't think any of us can remember personally, though some of us might feel old enough to have done so.

December 1, 07 This meeting will be at Saint David of Wales Episcopal Church. This will be our usual Christmas tea. Entertainment will of course be musical, and may be part of a larger program involving the church.

January 5, 08 Since the weather is sometimes unpredictable this time of year, meeting will not be for general membership. Board will be expected to attend at noon and may meet elsewhere than the church.

February 2, 08 We're planning a Fun Night, all members with a gift of gab will be expected to contribute a story, poem, song, or whatever. If you don't plan your own activity to present, someone else may plan one for you. Rumor has it someone will be teaching us the words to the Welsh National Anthem. Costumes and ribald humor will be encouraged. We are hoping to include the Seattle group in this activity.

February 17, 08 There will be a winter Gymanfa at Saint David of Wales Episcopal Church at 1:00 PM. This date may need to change.

March 1, 08 Our annual St. David's Day celebration will be held at a restaurant or will be a catered luncheon at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church. There will be entertainment as usual.

April 5, 08 We will have a regular meeting with a Welsh movie at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church.

May 3, 08 Bring a raincoat, gloves, and a trowel or shovel. We will have a work day at the Welsh cemetery just up the road from Bryn Seion in Beavercreek. Luncheon will be served at the church. Time for this meeting may be changed from 10:00 AM to later in the day.

June 7, 08 We will have a regular monthly meeting where we will share music or stories. One topic might be to tell about our lives during World War II. People on the events committee have heard such interesting stories from members that they decided they needed to be shared.

June 22, 08 The annual Gymanfa Ganu will be held at Bryn Seion Church. All volunteers needed for any of the three sessions, and in particular on the Friday preceding the event, June 20th. You will be hearing more about this event as it is planned.

July 5,08 Our Fourth of July picnic will be held at Bryn Seion Church at 1:00. It will be potluck except for the chicken and drinks. Bring games.

July 18-20,08 The Portland Highland Games is-held the third weekend in July. WSOP has had a booth there for two years now. This event is a lot of fun. Volunteers are needed with a great gift of gab and the ability to smile and be nice to people who are interested in Wales or people of Welsh heritage. John's dragon Dewi just draws people in.

August 2, 08 There has been some thought given to an August meeting to trade off for having no meeting in January. Activity pending.
